Wednesday, October 3rd 2018: The first WPRCA event of the year will be held at Manhattan College from 3:30-6:30pm and will include dinner. The event will revolve around Autism, specifically for school counselors and college admissions staff to understand and work with students on the Autism spectrum.
Wednesday, December 5th 2018: Our second event will be held at Manhattanville College from 3:30-6:30 pm and will include dinner. This event will feature a panel of a middle school principal, and college level professionals and will help counselors understand how to most effectively counsel student-athletes who have dreams of playing a sport in college.
Thursday, March 28th 2019: Our 2019 Barbara Christie Event will be hosted by Felician University and will take place at the Knollwood Country Club from 3:30-6:30pm and will include dinner. Our topic will be released soon!
May 2019: Our Annual Retirement Celebration will be held at Concordia college from 3:30 to 6:30 and will include dinner. Join us as we celebrate our 2019 retirees, congratulate our scholarship winners and close out another school year!
WPRCA member, you are invited to the French-American School (111 Larchmont Avenue Larchmont, NY 10538) on January 30th at 4:45 pm to learn about how the Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School of the Croton-Harmon School District is incorporating the new NYS Regulations and ASCA National Model. The presentation will focus on the development and mapping of an elementary social curriculum, as well as the importance of assessing and meeting individual student needs. Please pass this information along to counseling administrators they are invited as well.

On Wednesday, December 5th we held our annual WPRCA Holiday Event at Manhattanville College. It was a great turn out and the presentations on Advising Students Who Have Athletic Dreams for College were terrific. For school counselors who would like more information on this topic. Beth Roper, Director of College and Academic Guidance at the Ursuline School will be hosting an information night on March 18th. Beth was one of the presenters on December 5th and brings a wealth of information to the student athlete/recruitment process.
The information session at the Ursuline School (New Rochelle, NY) is titled, "College Bound Student-Athlete Advisement". It will begin at 6:30 pm in the Auriana Theater. Beth will provide information to student-athletes and families regarding opportunities and processes involved for aspiring collegiate-athletes.
