We share a common bond at all times but especially at this surreal and challenging time. Our roles and responsibilities are unique and now they remain so from a distance. We hope you are adjusting to these ever-changing and uncertain times. Our day-to-day interactions with students, colleagues, and parents have changed from face-to-face interactions to virtual experiences.
Please take time to practice the strategies we encourage others to utilize. This is an opportunity to slow the pace, to simplify what we can, and to focus on what is really important..... you, your health, and your family. Make some silver lining memories.
It can be very difficult to navigate your professional role as well as your role at home. With those roles combining, it adds extra challenges to our daily lives. Be sure to find time to take care of yourself.
In the midst of these stress filled times as we embark on working from our homes to support students, teachers, and families, we need to support each other. As you know, WPRCA is the local affiliate of NYSSCA. Your State organization is daily updating resources for school counselors to use at this time. Whether you are a member of the State organization or not, these ideas and opportunities are available to you. Simply go to the website nyssca.org.
We hope everyone stays safe and healthy and when we return to whatever becomes “normal”, WPRCA will again offer pertinent professional development. We must continue to support each other.
Best wishes to all,
Joe Ahlstrin - WPRCA President
