On Thursday, July 7, the WPRCA Executive Board met to begin planning for our 2016-2017 events. Check back soon for dates and program details!
On Wednesday, May 11, WPRCA celebrated our retirees, new board members, and scholarship recipients. We were also honored to have in attendance 11 past Presidents. WPRCA has been an active organization since 1939, and our website now has a complete list of all of our past presidents!
Our retirees included Lesley Tompkins, from White Plains High School , Marilyn Entwistle, from Ardsley Middle School, Gary Mancus, from Putnam Northern Westchester Boces, and Marise Kinyon, from the Bronx Academy of Health Careers. Congratulations to them all!
We also announced our Charlotte Pavonne Scholarship recipients for 2016.

WPRCA was proud to support the College Clinic, and congratulates the College Clinic Committee for presenting such an outstanding program. Frank Bruni gave a highly engaging keynote address, addressing college admissions mania, the subject of his latest book.

The Westchester Putnam Rockland Counseling Association and The School Counselors of Rockland were hosted by Dominican College on April 6th. The membership enjoyed a warm welcome from Dominican College, and enjoyed learning about the fine programs that Dominican College offers its students. The Dominican presentation was followed by an outstanding presentation by Peter Volkmann, MSW, who shared his expertise in crisis intervention. The presentation was followed by a delicious dinner provided by Dominican College. This is the second year in a row that WPRCA and the School Counselors of Rockland have co-sponsored a program in Rockland County. We hope to make this event a yearly one!

On March 9th at The Knollwood Country Club in Elmsford, NY, the annual Barbara Christie Program was held. The Barbara Christie Program is the highest honor that WPRCA can bestow upon someone, recognizing his/her outstanding achievements and contributions made in our profession.
The organization decided to have an annual program on college admission in her name and honor. As many may know, Barbara Christie passed away in 1991 while Abby Hirsch was president.
