Our first WPRCA event of the year, sponsored by Lynn University in Florida. This event revolved around helping students K-12 and beyond manage emotions and apply interpersonal skills. Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is an important part of the mandates of the NYS Regulations governing school counseling as of September 2019. This topic will benefit all mental health professionals working with students of all ages.
Jennifer Clearwaters is a former School Counselor and was Supervisor of School Counseling. Her presentation included an overview of what mindfulness means. She also spoke about Yoga Calm and the evidence based curriculum she uses. Jennifer also reviewed a number of techniques she uses and shared tools that counselors can take back to their schools to implement.
The first WPRCA event of the year was held on Zoom on 10/7.
